DDN FC/SAS RAID: 60 disks 4 U

Data Direct Networks is the manufacturer of the RAID systems with highest packing: Up to 60 disks can be installed in one 4 U rackmount enclosure. This can be SATA disks with up to 2 TB, high performance SAS disks with 15,000 rpm or SSD disks mith maximum i/o throughput. And of course also all three disk technologies in the same enclosure - for tiered storage applications. The disks are inserted from top into the enclosure. Of course this is also possible in the running system, which can be moved in the rack with slide rails. Thus disks kan be replaces hot-swap like in the traditional front loader systems.

If 60 disks are not enough: the system can be expanded with a JBOD, offering another 60 drives, which means, upt to 240 TB raw capacity can be managed in a 8 U storage system.
RAID systems of this size require highest disk fault tolerance, especially with SATA disks without own intelligence. This is provided by DDN's SATAssure® technology, using parity-check-on-read. Furthermore these systems are equipped with extremely performant redundant RAID controllers, which supply highest I/O throughput also with SSD disks. An intelligant adaptive cache technology optimizes cache reservation for up to 512 volumes.
